At 5am this morning Ethan walked over to me and said "Bob Build?" as he rubbed his sweet little eyes. You want to watch Bob? I asked, A very adamant nod followed.
Normaly if he were to get up at 5am, I would try to get him to go back to bed, or let him climb in with me. However, it is a bit different today... *things get blurry and you hear that music that tells you that you are going back in time*
Friday morning. I woke up around 2am and couldn't get back to sleep. I was wide awake... the joys of insomnia! I finaly started to drift off after Adam got up. So I fall back to sleep as I should be getting up for the day. Never a great start to your day. It is a big day!!! Track and field day for Donna and Alex!!! The kids didn't want to get up, and the fact that I hit snooze a few to many times didn't help that. Chloe also has school today, so I have to get them all ready. The kids were in slow motion, and seemed to have cotton in their ears. We finaly got out the door and got Alex and Donna to school with 3 minutes to walk to their rooms. Oh man, I forgot their water bottles... I tell them I'll be right back with them, just get to class. That adds a good 10 minutes on, then I forgot the lawn chairs... uggg, I thought about putting them in the night before, why didn't I? So I get everything ready, water dropped off, camera with new partialy charged battery(yes, that too I forgot the night before!)snacks packed, Chloe and Reed taken to school... (had a bump with that as well... Off to Fareway quick for a drink for myself and Ethan before we spend the day at the track.
Things got much smoother aside from Ethan not wanting to stay off the track. Friends of ours came and sat with us and Ethan got to play in the rocks with Lily. (A huge thanks to Lily's grandpa for finding every rock they picked up to be simply stunning!!) Around 10:50 Granny (my mom) came on her lunch break to watch Donna with the field events while I walked to pick Chloe and Reed up from school. We got back in time to see the sack races. It sounds like the girls beat the boys, and Donna's class also beat the other class in tug-of-rope. I'm sure she had a giggle fest while doing the rubber chicken relay as well. By 11:30, Donna and all of the other kindergarten-2nd graders were back on the buss and off to school for lunch and movies.
I stayed at the track with the 3 kidos and we had snack stand foods, 4 bathroom breaks (1/4 mile walk one way)and lots of running around untill 12:15 when the busses started pulling back in for the second half of the day.
Alex ran the 100, 200, and 400. He also did a 50 meter relay. (why do we do metric on track events, but not on anything else?)Ethan fought his nap as hard and as long as he could! 2:35 came and all the students got back on the busses. We packed up our stuff, Ethan HAD to carry his own lawn chair over his shoulder like mommy and Chloe. We slowly crawled our way to the parking lot. :)
After we got everything in the van, the kids buckled and drinks and snacks handed out, we were off to pick the kids up from school. After getting Donna and Alex, we went accross town to a different Elementary to pick up Reeds brother. Then I thought after our long hot day in the sun, it would be a perfect time for movie night!! So we went to get a movie. By the time we got home, Ethan had fallen asleep in his seat. I brought him straight to bed where he slept through pizza night, and movie night, and bedtime... We couldn't wake him up. *Which brings up back to 5am.*
You want to watch bob? How about I get you some food and a drink while you watch bob? Huge grins as he runs in to sit on the couch to watch his beloved, Bob Build. At 5am while Daddy snores away beside him.
